Troop 162 is a boy-led troop that emphasizes leadership development. We are part of the Chillicothe District in Tecumseh Council, Boy Scouts of America. Since our founding in 1946, Boy Scout Troop 162 has been affiliated with Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in one way or another, either through various chartering organizations and by having military and civilian employees as troop members. We were first sponsored by the WPAFB Officers Wives Club. Later we were sponsored by the 2750th Air Base Wing, then 88th Services Squadron and most recently by the American Legion, Post 526, of Fairborn Ohio. Our present chartering organization is the Abiding Christ Lutheran Church.
Our troop has a rich history including the creation and sponsorship of the Wright Memorial Trail since 1963. The trail is recognized as a BSA Historic Trail. In 1991, as an Eagle Scout project, the Wright Brothers Historical Walking Trail was created. The Wright Memorial Trail is a popular trek for many Cub Scout packs and Boy Scout troops and other youth groups throughout the Midwest.
Our troop meets at Abiding Christ Lutheran Church in Fairborn on Mondays at 7 PM. See the details on our Contact Page.
